GOKWE — A man from Chief Njelele area in Gokwe South is in trouble after he met his niece aged 12, dragged her into the bush and allegedly raped her once.
SILAS NKALA The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor, was not asked to plead to a rape charge when he appeared before Gokwe resident magistrate Sheppard Mjanja on Monday.
The magistrate remanded him in custody to June 13.
The court heard that on an unknown date, but in May, the accused met the girl in a bush path and dragged her into the nearby bush where he threatened to stab her if she resisted, before raping her once.
Following the rape the girl confided to her parents and a report was made to the police, leading to the man’s arrest.
It is the State case that the man is the girl’s uncle.
