The games, which will be catering for the 17-and-under age group are being used to select the schools that will represent Bulawayo Metropolitan province in the national schools championships later on this year.

The five districts that will be represented by the schools are Khami, Mbizo, Reigate, Mzilikazi and Bulawayo Central district.

Sports directors representing the schools that will be competing in Friday’s competition will today meet at Masotsha High School for the final vetting of players.

Last week Bulawayo Central district held its district volleyball games at Milton with the hosts and Eveline winning the boys’ and the girls’ categories respectively, to qualify for Friday’s provincial games.

Milton volleyball coach, Tawedzera Tangawamira, told Southern Eye Sport he was optimistic that his side was going to play well at the provincial games.

Milton will be looking at the likes of Junior Bwanya and Seawin Mthupe to play a pivotal role in their quest to get the sole ticket to represent the province in this year’s national volleyball finals.

Last year’s national volleyball games were hosted by Mtshabezi High School and Bulawayo Metropolitan province was represented by Mpopoma High School.
