The new brand, which was initially launched by Willowvale Mazda at the Zimbabwe Motor Show in Harare, had not been introduced to the City of Kings.

Amtec Bulawayo branch manager Erasmus Ndongo said he was humbled by the support they got from all stakeholders that made it to the launch at short notice.

The new Mazda BT-50 has revolutionalised the one-tonne pick-up segment and is a radical departure from accepted truck styling, comfort and performance norms.

The all-new Mazda is different from the previous brand as it has improved tyres, interior, exterior and engine power.

The vehicle, termed the Sophisticated Beast, has improved safety features that include a four-wheel anti-lock braking system, tracking control system, six air bags and a seatbelt reminder.

“We value the people of Bulawayo, that is why we came with the vehicle here.

“We want to play a key role in the revival of the economy and industry of Bulawayo and Zimbabwe at large,” Lucas Taruvinga, Amtec Motors managing director, said.

Taruvinga added that the new product would address all concerns the customers had from the previous brand, including excessive fuel consumption.

Amtec motors will celebrate its 60th anniversary in November.
