He died on Wednesday evening after succumbing to cancer.

He was 44.

In an interview with Southern Eye yesterday, the late legal practitioner’s friend and business partner Godfrey Nyoni said Moyo had been bedridden with cancer for three weeks at Mater Dei Hospital, where he received chemotherapy.

“Moyo developed complications on Wednesday evening at his home after he had been discharged from Mater Dei Hospital,” he said.

“He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Nyoni said he had last spoken to the late around 6pm on Wednesday after being discharged from the hospital.

“I spoke to the late where we discussed business over the phone concerning some files that I wanted to look into,” he said. “On that same evening at around 7pm, I received the sad news that he had passed away.”

Nyoni described the death of the lawyer as a big blow to the law fraternity.

“It is so sad and his passing away has been a big blow to us,” he said. “He was very kind and was a fatherly figure who was always great to work with.”

Nyoni said he had a close relationship with the late, both as a business partner and a friend.

“We were students together. We became partners at Majoko and Majoko and we eventually formed Moyo and Nyoni Legal Practitioners in 2007,” he said.

Moyo is survived by his wife and children. Mourners are gathered at number 9 Landau Road, Khumalo suburb in Bulawayo.
