CHICKEN Inn striker and Premiership leading goalscorer Tendai Ndoro has been rewarded for his scoring prowess after he was called up by coach Klaus-Dieter Pagels to represent Zimbabwe at the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament scheduled for Zambia early next month.

The Warriors coach named a 20-member squad to do duty in Zambia with Ndoro and Caps United veteran goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube headlining the list of the new faces called up for the regional tournament.

Black Rhinos striker Lot Chiunga is one of the new faces in the team. Dube has been a revelation since he joined Caps United at the start of the season and his inclusion in the team alongside Ndoro who has netted nine goals in the campaign to date, is a welcome development as Zimbabwe seeks to successfully defend the regional tournament won back in 2009 in Harare.

Pagels, however, kept faith in the majority of the players who played in friendly matches against Zambia and Malawi recently.

The regional tournament which features players plying their trade in their domestic leagues kicks off on July 6.

Warriors team manager Sharif Mussa said the team would go into camp on July 8 and travel to Lusaka, Zambia on July 11.

The Warriors face Malawi a week later on July 13 in one of the quarter-finals of the 2013 Cosafa Cup tournament.

The two teams drew 1-1 in an international friendly match in Malawi last month with assistant coach Lloyd Mutasa and Under-23 coach Peter Ndlovu taking charge as Pagels was away in Germany.

Zimbabwe are the defending champions after they defeated Zambia 3-1 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare in 2009 to lift the prestigious regional tournament. Since then the tournament has not been held.
