A MORGENSTER Teachers’ College student, Blessing Mukumene, will represent Masvingo at the Miss Zimbabwe finals after she was crowned Miss Masvingo 2013 at a colourful pageant at Flamboyant Hotel on June 21. REPORT BY SINDISO DUBE.

The 22-year-old beauty shrugged off competition from 23 other models to clinch the title, with Chenai Chaendera and Heather Masimba becoming first and second princess, respectively.

“I am so happy and it will be an honour to represent Zimbabwe’s oldest city at the Miss Zimbabwe. The stage will be bigger this time, but I promise to bring the crown home,” Blessing told the Southern Eye.

For clinching the coveted title, she walked away with $500 and a return ticket to South Africa.

Blessing said being Miss Masvingo had presented her a chance to meet many influential people in the corporate world and also presented new experiences for her.

“Now the stage will be bigger and that means I have to upgrade myself and also my wardrobe, so I need a helping hand in terms of finances,” she said.

The Harare-born beauty started modelling at a tender age and she clinched her first crown when she was in Grade 4.

She did high school in Kadoma and presently she is studying at Morgenster Teachers’ College, where she expects to graduate next April.
