Ezen Virginus Chukwuemeka, who resides at number 6 Blossom in Northend, Bulawayo, pleaded guilty to a charge of violating immigration laws when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sibongile Msipa.

The magistrate convicted and sentenced him to 30 days in jail with an option of $100 fine.

The court heard that Chukwuemeka was approached by an immigration officer Marshal Chikwature on June 29 and who asked him to produce a valid permit which allowed him to stay in Zimbabwe. Chukwuemeka failed to produce the papers.

When Chikwature got the accused’s passport he noticed that he had entered the country on November 27, 2010 and was supposed to leave the same day.
