Conspicuously absent is goalkeeper Charles Swini who let in two goals last month when Malawi drew 2-2 with Kenya in a World Cup African qualifiers in Blantyre.

The Belgian coach released the squad on Tuesday in the Malawi capital, Lilongwe. Striker Gabadinho Mhango and Lucky Malata are also out as they are attending trials in South Africa with Amazulu and BidVest Wits University respectively.

Mozambique-based goalkeeper Simplex Nthala, home-based Gastin Simkonda, Jimmy Zakazaka and James Sangala also return. Malawi are two-time Cosafa Cup finalists and will be looking to better their record of 2009, when they got knocked out from the quarter-final. The Flames were expected to fly to Zambia on Tuesday.
