Zingane (49) was stripped of powers to represent the company by the courts following his arrest, but is out of custody on $2 000 bail.

Prosecutor Jeremiah Mutsindikwa said the trial date was set after Geozing liquidators — Matshobana Ncube and Philip Ndlovu — indicated that they would be available on the day. According to court records, between March 2012 and March 2013, Zingane of Kingston Court Famona, Bulawayo, using Geozing Pawn Brokers, defrauded members of the public of thousands of dollars after he took cash deposits without a banking licence.

He allegedly lured his victims by advertising through a local newspaper and misled them by claiming his business was registered.

Investors were promised that they would get 30% interest on their deposits after 30 days, but that never materialised as the company folded.
