The 19-year-old left Esigodini with prize money that was not disclosed. Khanyisile Mafu (19) was crowned the first princess, with Lydia Ndlovu being crowned the second princes.

The show, organised by Athens Bar in collaboration with Players Inc, saw a bevy of 16 models drawn from Bulawayo, Esigodini, Gwanda and Filabusi strutting their stuff before an appreciative crowd.

Speaking to Southern Eye after the event, Ncube expressed delight at landing the top prize. She said she was looking forward to taking part in big contests.

“I’m very happy to win the competition. It was very tight and almost everyone who took part has a crown somewhere. I never thought I would emerge as the winner,” a visibly delighted Ncube said.

Sheron Mvundla, one of the organisers, said she was happy with the conduct of the girls especially the way they presented themselves before and after the show.

“All models showed maturity and as one of the organisers, I am happy that everything went according to plan. I would like to encourage those who didn’t make it to the top three to work hard because modelling is not an overnight thing. It takes time for on to master all the concepts that are needed,” she said.
