Ubarific, according to Chekure, celebrates being a university student. On the album he worked with top producers Lagg Beats and Vibes, and Top Mafia studios in Harare. The album was released last month and Chekure has vowed that it will take the local dancehall circles by storm.

“I am happy that this album is finally out. Is a dedication to all university students in the country. The album is about love, success and also about that feeling of being a university student,” Chekure, studying music and musicology, said.

The album carries tracks in Shona and English, among them Zvitaitai, which talks of commercial sex workers and prostitution, and another one titled Ndokutambira, a dance song.

“I thank my family, fellow students and MSU for the support they gave me before and after the album,” Chekure, who hails from Harare, said.

Chikure started music at the age of 16 with a group called Zambezi Crew.
