The event is being organised by the Zimbabwe Clothing Manufacturers’ Association (ZCMA) under the theme “Made in Zimbabwe”, in which local top designers, including students, will showcase their works.

Thandiwe Chingonzo, the secretary of ZCMA, confirmed the show to Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday.

“We have a total of 16 clothing manufacturing companies, 10 Bulawayo top designers and 25 young students designers who will be competing for the youngest designer award,” Chingonzo said.

“Student designers are coming from different institutions namely Chinhoyi University, National University of Science and Technology, Speciss College and Bulawayo Polytechnic, among others.”

Chingonzo added that the initiative was intended at increasing awareness among relevant audience about capabilities and potential of the local clothing sector.

“We want to deal with some of the misconceptions about the industry’s capacity and ability to supply and attract domestic and international investments,” she said.

“We promise fashion lovers a prestigious event that will keep them on the edge the whole day. They must be ready to take notes on the new fashion trends.”

Some of the designers expected at the exhibition include Shadow By S’dumiso, Blinq and Rebellious Klothing. Entertainment on the day will be provided by jazz sensation Willis Wataffi and Antivirus dance group.
