KHAMI Prison is set to host the inaugural Khami Teams Chess Tournament on Saturday.

Moses Mutipforo, the treasurer of the Bulawayo Chess Association, confirmed tournament which he said will run annually as they take steps to establish a chess league in the city.

“This tournament will be held every year and we are using it to establish the league which is expected to roll into life next year. We are also looking forward to establishing the women’s league as well because in other tournaments we have held so far we have noticed that there are many women interested in the sport,” he said.

Teams expected to participate in this tournament include National University of Science and Technology, Bulawayo Polytechnic, Christian Brothers College, School of Mines and Zimbabwe Prison Service.

Each team will have four players, who will play five rounds each. Registration fee is $30.
