Earlier in the season, Sibanda was Bulawayo Chiefs coach winning seven successive matches, but was later reassigned to the academy following a 0-2 loss to Blackboots and playing a draw with Ntabazinduna. He opted out and joined Rovers.

Rovers spokesperson Wilbert Sibanda yesterday told Southern Eye Sport that they still have a running contract with Sibanda. “I am surprised by phone calls from the media confirming Thulani’s departure to Bulawayo Chiefs, because we have not received a resignation letter from him.

“If he wants to leave we cannot force him to stay, but because he has a running contract with our team, we expect him to produce a resignation form and this is something he has not done yet,” he said.

Wilbert had earlier told this publication that they were going to have a meeting with Thulani on Tuesday night, but the meeting did not take place.

“I did not meet him because as far as we are concerned as a club, Thulani is still our coach, he has a running contract with us. He did not attend training yesterday (Tuesday),” he said.

Sibanda told Southern Eye Sport on Tuesday that he had been reappointed by Bulawayo Chiefs, but was not available for comment yesterday as his mobile phone was unreachable.
