Speaking at a public meeting in Menyezwa and Emzola wards in Lupane on Wednesday, the organisation spokesperson Mmeli Dube said communal publications would hold people accountable for either the development or low levels of development in particular villages.

“If we do not follow up on the development and check on what our leaders promised us, whether those promises have been fulfilled or not, then we will stay in one position for a long time,” Dube said.

“It is therefore important that the people have space in which they can be the whistle blowers in their community and report on the goings in their various villages.

“We want to hold people accountable for their actions and check whether what they promised us before elections is what they are actually doing on the ground or not.

“This is why we also engage communities in these debates to discuss issues that are relevant to them as well,” he added.

Dube said the communal publications would have content reported by particular villagers in their various wards.

“We want to look for people in the community called community advocates who will present reports on what is happening in their community. We will take these people and train them,” he added.
