INFORMATION, Media and Broadcasting Services minister and Zanu PF politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo yesterday mocked MDC-T Bulawayo provincial chairperson Gorden Moyo saying the Makokoba legislator had exaggerated things when he said his party had won 100% of the parliamentary seats in the city.

Moyo, addressing an interactive meeting with representatives of media houses and stakeholders at a Bulawayo Hotel yesterday, said the MDC-T had not won 100% of the seats in the July 31 elections as Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Eunice Sandi-Moyo was a member of the National Assembly through proportional representation.
“He (Gorden Moyo) made some remarks that got me thinking,” Moyo said.
“He said he was proud that his party swept all seats in the province. He was exaggerating when he said that because they did not win everything. We have Sandi-Moyo from Zanu PF who got in through the proportional representation. She is an elected member of the National Assembly. They won in Bulawayo and you know we won in Zimbabwe.”
“As you know, those who won in Bulawayo cannot use that to rule Zimbabwe, but those who won in Zimbabwe can use that to rule Bulawayo,” Moyo said.
Addressing party members, among them MPs, councillors and MDC-T deputy president Thokozani Khupe, at a dinner at his Famona home last Friday, the former State Enterprises minister said his party was at its greatest strength and would recover from the “stolen” elections.
“Everyone concerned about democracy knows that the people of Bulawayo were determined to fight dictatorship,” Moyo said.
