Dynamos will be the first to testify after falling to the mining side. The league champions were cleanly torn apart by a Hwange side who were simply brilliant and ruthless. The hosts were 2-0 up and comfortable just before the half-time break courtesy of quick goals by captain Gerald Ndhlovu from the spot on 36th minutes and a cool finish by dreadlocked Nkosana Siwela a minute later.

Dynamos briefly rallied back soon after the resumption of the second half when Ocean Mushure curled beautifully into the right top corner from a free-kick, but Gilbert Zulu restored Hwange’s two-goal lead with a header from a corner-kick just a minute later.

Fourteen minutes of the second stanza had lapsed when Mushure again brought his side back into the match with yet another free-kick from just outside the box which took an awkward deflection to beat Hwange keeper Petros Mhari.

But Zulu had the last laugh when he connected with another header, an effort which Dynamos goalkeeper George Chigova should have easily dealt with. Yesterday’s massacre was the first time the Harare giants, vying for a third straight league title, have conceded four goals in a league match this season, and it’s the third time Dynamos have lost a match at the Colliery in the last 10 years.

Dynamos’ only relief from yesterday’s events is that second placed Harare City also dropped points, and thus the Kalisto Pasuwa-coached side are still at the top.
