This emerged yesterday when Lucia Masunda appeared before Gweru magistrate Gertrude Mayenyose facing criminal insult charges. Masunda allegedly approached the complainant Tendai Mhosva and told her that she was not going to stay long with her former husband because she was HIV-positive.

Further allegations are that Masunda told the complainant that her child had died of Aids.

Prosecutor Chipo Matshe told the court that on July 9 2012 Masunda approached Mhosva at a shop in the city centre and allegedly said: “For how long do you think you are going to stay with Lawrence (Masunda’s former husband)? Bi***, you are Aids infected. Your child died of the disease (sic).”

Mhosva said she suffered psychological trauma as a result of the utterances. The trail continues today.
