Alpha Media Holdings (AMH), the largest independent media house in Zimbabwe and publishers of NewsDay, the Zimbabwe Independent, the Standard and the Southern Eye have announced the launch of a new online classifieds portal, branded MyClassifieds.co.zw.

The launch of MyClassifieds.co.zw is in line with the company’s digital first strategy announced early this year which seeks to promote the presence of the company’s publications and products on to digital platforms as the digital transformation intensifies internationally.

MyClassifieds.co.zw portal is a virtual marketplace which extends and transforms AMH’s print classifieds into a rich digital classifieds edition that takes advantage of the growth in digital access in Zimbabwe to provide convenient and cost effective online advertising, buying and selling.

It is available on desktop and mobile platforms and enables buyers to choose from a wide range of product categories available and sellers to place adverts easily and conveniently from anywhere in the world.

The revolutionary growth in mobile economic activity has provided AMH with the opportunity to target mobile users by giving them a classifieds portal through which they can register, place or forward adverts, share, compare prices and buy through smart phones and feature phones.

MyClassifieds.co.zw is easily accessible on www.myclassifieds.co.zw and the smooth flowing features are very easy to use. Individuals can easily post free adverts via the “Post a FREE Advert” red circle or can simply register and place their ads in the numerous categories.

Businesses can take advantage of the stores and create their own virtual storefronts and load their products in their stores. The site is very user friendly with self-guiding instructions and clickable navigation buttons.

It provides sellers with the opportunity to occupy premium spaces by occupying high traffic sections of the website and by promoting their ads to be more visible and at the top. MyClassifieds.co.zw is currently available on Social Media platforms such as Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Myclassifieds/196607377177357) and twitter (https://twitter.com/MyClassifiedsZw).

The website is built on a robust platform and takes advantage of high traffic sister websites for the NewsDay, Sothern Eye, the Zimbabwe Independent and the Standard which record very high combined visits of more than two and half million visits and ten million page views per month.

Apart from goods and services for sale, the site carries a number of unique features such as the Business Directory listings, EcoCash agents and merchants, shopping malls, flea markets, cinema, to name just a few.

The portal has come live with more than 300 storefronts and 4,000 listings over a very short space of time. Sellers can pay for premium adverts via Eco Cash or through payment details provided on the website and buyers can subscribe to receive email alerts from the website.

Announcing the commissioning of MyClassifieds.co.zw, Alpha Media Holdings Chairman Mr. Trevor Ncube acknowledged the fast changes in the markets as more and more businesses turn to the World Wide Web.

“This investment is a recognition that a big part of our audience has moved from print to digital platforms. This audience is younger, smarter and loves their mobile phones. But they are not in love with newspapers. While over 90% of our revenues still come from our print products our audience has changed consumption habits. We are thus future proofing our business. Myclassifieds.co.zw sits very well with our investment in mobi news. We have to place our independent content on platforms where our readers are.”

AMH has taken a bold step in launching both the mobile and desktop sites at one go. To contact the myclassifieds.co.zw team, send you email to [email protected]
