Information obtained by Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday shows that the awards ceremony has been pencilled for December 11 at 7Arts Theatre, Avondale in Harare and would be co-hosted by former Big Brother Africa finalists Vimbai Mutinhiri and Munyadzi Chidzonga.

The founder and executive producer of the awards Aldrian Harrison, aka Beefy, said this year’s awards would be different from the previous ceremonies.

“The committee is more organised, we have put proper structures within our organisation and we are taking every advice and criticism from last year to polish this year’s event,” he said.

Beefy added that they had increased the number of categories from 17 to 25 “so that everyone contributing to the hip-hop industry gets recognition and awarded.

“This year’s involvement with experienced international award show producers will be key in making our show bigger and better, though we believe in our own local ideas. As Zimbabweans, we are creative enough,” he said.

Nominees will be released on November 4, but for one to be nominated his or her music should have been played on any of the three local radio stations — Power FM, ZiFM Stereo and Star FM between October 2012 and October 25 2013.

An artiste stands a higher chance of nomination if they have released an album, video, and have more than three local performances throughout the course of the year.
