If you are serious about your success, you need to do away with the circumstances syndrome and learn to harness opportunities where there seems to be none.

Successful people are always looking for opportunities and they always ask themselves: What is in it for me? They also understand that opportunities multiply as they are seized.

William Shakespeare once promulgated that some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

It is against this background that my message this week is targeted at those who are earnestly seeking for opportunities and are seeking to achieve greatness. I know that only a few, if any, were born great.

Unlike gamblers, opportunity seekers also do not necessarily wait for opportunities to come their way, but they create an atmosphere of opportunities that place them at a better position of transforming opportunities into worthwhile investments.

Opportunities are often disguised as hard work hence most people do not recognise them.

I believe our beloved Zimbabwe is full of open gates that can only be seen by visionaries.

Surrounding us are strings of tension waiting to be struck and moulded into enterprises.

Have you ever wondered why each generation is better that the generation preceding it?

It is because it stands on the shoulders of that generation, seeking to improve what it could not and obviously inventing what the proceeding generation could not.

Our generation has better opportunities than we would know. Why not tap into the season?

Some cherish the idea of a democratic and free society in which it is presumed that all persons will have equal opportunities.

Unfortunately, opportunities do not just come, even under the best of conditions.

Some argue that the world we are living in is an age of unknown opportunities and perils, a frontier of unfulfilled hopes and threats.

Don’t be fooled, weak people wait for opportunities and the strong manufacture them.

In order to find opportunities, we have to first find the deeper powers within ourselves that we can get mostly in times when life seems most challenging.

I have periods in my life when my opportunity spectacles are the most effective, where a bundle of ideas comes along.

There are some however, where I have had dry spells.

If I get an idea after a dry spell, I definitely do something about it. There is nothing to wait for.

Opportunities are found everywhere.

Most successful entrepreneurs say that there are endless sources of opportunities and that they are found everywhere we can imagine.

What boggles many people’s minds is they we are living in the same conditions and business environment as entrepreneurs are, yet establish successful entities.

Most of us are blessed enough to have been awarded the opportunity to meet all kinds of people, to travel and expand our financial capabilities, to get ideas and learn about life, to create a world of prosperity.

I have always been taught that a poor economy is the best opportunity for enterprises because the naysayers and grumblers would have already given up leaving more territory and opportunities to be successful, despite the prevailing economic situation, to give it their all best.

We are all faced with a series of great opportunities that are brilliantly disguised as impossible situations. It is also wiser to make more opportunities than we find.

Procrastination stifles opportunities.

As William Ward puts it; opportunities are like sunrise and if you wait too long, you miss them.

One characteristic of high achievers is that they make decisions quickly and move into action swiftly whenever they are faced with an opportunity.

There is no need for you to wait for extraordinary opportunities.

Most people also do not realise that small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises.

Seize even the smallest opportunities as they come your way and make them great.

I have known talented people who when faced with an opportunity, procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure.

Losing opportunities in such a way can cause erosion of confidence and when that happens, the deadly spiral of failure begins. Opportunities don’t often come along, so when they do, you have to grab them as soon as you can.

Jump as quickly at opportunities as you do to conclusions.

Discipline is crucial

Demonstrate a strong track record of being very disciplined with the use of your cash.

Become so serious about it that you don’t let it burn a hole in your pocket, even the least of the cents.

Do not even allow it to push you into picking unnecessary acquisitions.

This way, you make it possible to save enough money to be invested in a strategic opportunity to be fulfilled in the future.

Even when faced with failure, keep your head high. Behind every failure is an opportunity to improve.
