Mahocs, as she is affectionately known in entertainment circles ,plays a lead character — Lily — a young sex-worker who is forced into prostitution as a result of poverty. However, she ironically finds “true” love forcing her to abandon the dirty game.

“Lily is a single mother who is forced into prostitution due to unemployment,” the sassy starlet told Southern Eye Lifestyle in an interview yesterday.

“Lily just like any lady desires to be loved and in the middle of her dirty game she finds true love forcing her to repent.”

Asked about the lessons behind the character she plays, Mahocs said: “They (prostitutes) are also normal human beings who are driven into prostitution by serious social problems.

“But they care about their bodies and want to be loved as well,” she said emphatically.

Mahocs said her role in the film was challenging because of the negative perceptions and stereotypes sex-workers are labelled with by secular society.

“But I relate to being a woman and the need to be loved,” she said.

The playwright and director of the film, Tswarelo Motobe, said Mahocs landed the lead role in the film because of her “great personality”.

“Mahocs plays a character who is a leading lady in the play. We chose her because of her great personality and her rapidly growing inspiration in the entertainment industry,” he said.

He added that Look of Love was a township love story portraying “the other side of life”.
