Nicholas Muchinguri, aka POY, producer P2daoh, Klap, Kasi Lunatics and Antivirus are some of the Bulawayo artistes who have been nominated for different categories for the Zim Hip-hop 2013 awards.

POY is up for two gongs — best male artiste of the year in which the Bulawayo artiste will battle it out with Tehn Diamond, Simba Tags, Stunner and Jnr Brown.

He has been nominated again for best hip-hop promoter of 2013.

Speaking to Southern Eye Lifestyle, POY said it was an honour to be on the list.

“I am grateful that they have recognised our works, we have been putting a lot of hard work since the start of the year, not only in releasing material, but also developing platforms that nature upcoming artistes,” POY said.

Polite Sithole, aka P2daoh, has been nominated for best producer. He will fight it out with Take5, Young Nash, Yagi Dojo and Tags.

Klap and Kasi Lunatics will make up the Bulawayo groups that have been nominated for best hip-hop group of the year and will slag it out with Harare-based Few Kings, MMT and Monkey Nuts.

Two other Bulawayo boys Anton Banana and Yeukai Zinyoro have both been nominated for best solo dancer award while T-diddz and Trex are vying for the best high school act.

Antivirus and Explosion are nominees for the best dance group for 2013.

Local disc jockey Mark Vusani has been nominated for best club DJ, but will face stiff competition from Ray Dizz, P Styles, Joe Mentro and Selekta Base.

Arizona Spur Bulawayo has been nominated as the best corporate brand supporting local hip-hop while Da-Grapevine has been nominated for best promoter of the genré in 2013.

To add to the nomination, Klap has been selected to perform at the awards ceremony and the group’s producer P2daoh has promised fireworks.

“It is a blessing to us as Klap and this should be a lesson to other artistes that if you work hard and invest in your craft you will succeed. We thank Bulawayo and everyone who has been behind us from day one,” he said.
