LOCAL hip-hop musicians were on Saturday night honoured as organisers of Zimbabwe Hip-hop Awards held a party for this year’s nominees at Horizon Bar, Lounge and Restaurant.

The party which started at 9pm saw patrons being treated to some good music from performances by different local artistes and the nominees.

Kasi Lami Art Platform, which was nominated for best hip-hop group award, performed, supported by their producer and musician Polite Sithole, aka P2daoh.

Nicholas Muchinguri, aka POY, graced the stage and performed the songs Yebbo and also a new track Cake-Up which featured Leroy Brittain, popularly known as Spinx.

Local all-female group the Divas got wild cheers from patrons as they showcased their talent to the appreciative audience. POY was nominated for best male of the year and best promoter.

The executive producer of the awards, Aldrian Beefy Harrison, told Southern Eye Lifestyle that it was a good thing hosting a party for Bulawayo.

“We held the party to honour the Bulawayo nominees and also as a good build-up to the main ceremony in December,” “This will go a long way in the growth of local hip-hop that hip-hop in spreading the genré to all corners of the country,” Beefy said.

Among the nominees present were Antivirus, Kasi Lunatics and Explosion.

Next Saturday, the organisers of the awards will take the nominees’ party to Harare.

This year’s ceremony will be held on November 11 at 7Arts Theatre in the capital.

This year has seen more than five artistes from Bulawayo being nominated for different categories in the Zimbabwe Hip-hop Awards.
