Ndlovu of M36 Torwood was found dead in a pool of blood close to the suburb’s cemetery around 10am on November 16, a few hours after she had left home with Savanhu, who is now on the run.

According to a police report, Ndlovu who was a Lower Six pupil at Drake High School, had been struck once on the head with a stone and died on the spot due to excessive blood loss.

“It is suspected that she might have been killed by Savanhu, a commuter omnibus conductor, who she is said to have left her home with,” part of the report by the police reads. Ndlovu’s body was taken to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for a post mortem.

A close family source told our sister paper NewsDay that the Ndlovu family would be seeking compensation from the Savanhus, residing in Torwood, over the murder of their daughter soon after her burial.

“The family is divided.

“There are some who want to have the burial before talks can take place between the two families while others are of the view that compensation should come before burial,” the source said.

A man who referred to himself as an elder in the Ndlovu family said the family would not entertain the Press until they get post mortem results of their daughter.

“We have to sit down and discuss these things as a family after we get the report from the doctor and we have afforded our daughter a decent burial, then we can talk to the Press,” he said.

Police sources said Savanhu was now on the run and they were keen to bring him in for questioning as he was the last person seen with Ndlovu alive.

“We are looking for him in connection with the murder. He has not been reporting for work or going home since the murder.

“We are appealing to anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station,” the source said.
