Elita Sibanda (23) and Busane Zikhala (24) appeared separately in the Musina Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and yesterday respectively facing charges of unauthorised supply or possession of explosives.

They were both remanded in custody to tomorrow and Saturday for bail application.

Sibanda was found in possession of 26 plastic cartridges and 100 detonators while travelling in a bus from Zimbabwe to South Africa last month.

Zikhala was arrested last week with stockpiles of 13 blasting cartridges and 13 connectors cap fuses hidden in the overhead compartment of a bus during a routine search on the South African side of the border.

Initially no passenger took responsibility of the explosives, but police investigations linked Zikhala to the illegal explosive devices, leading to his arrest on the spot.
