Decent Manashe Zhou pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and was remanded in custody to December 6 by regional magistrate Gladmore Mushowe.

Allegations against Zhou are that on October 24 at around 3pm, he approached the girl while she was at home and enticed her to go with him to a nearby bush with the intent of showing her “something”. The girl agreed and followed him.

While in the bushy area close to SPAR in Kumalo, Zhou ordered the girl to undress and lie down facing upwards. She complied and Zhou allegedly raped her once without protection.

After that he threatened the girl and told her not to reveal the rape to anyone. The girl went home and did not tell anyone.

On October 25 at around 1pm, the girl allegedly passed by Zhou’s residence on her way home from school and he called her into his yard.

He took the girl to the cottage and raped her again without protection. The girl narrated her ordeal to a family member on October 28 and a report was made to the police, leading to Zhou’s arrest.
