PSL board member (competitions) Tavengwa Hara yesterday said as the league, they were hoping that Mbada Diamonds would be bigger and better next year.

“We would like to thank the sponsors for this event. We also hope that next season they will be with us for an improved event. We would like to applaud the chairman of the organising committee (Tafadzwa Chiremba) for a job well done. This has been one of the best years where the final is being played in Bulawayo and involving teams that are from Bulawayo,” Hara said.

Highlanders take on How Mine in this year’s final that will be played at Barbourfields Stadium.

Winners will walk away with $130 000, compared to last year’s $100 000.

Losing finalists are already guaranteed $90 000. Even if How Mine, lose they will receive $110 000 subsidy from Mbada Diamonds for taking part in next year’s Caf Confederation Cup.

Bosso are still serving a ban from continental competitions.

Chiremba promised Bulawayo fans a better final tomorrow as they will be sticking to the $1 for the rest of the ground gate charges.

He said Mbada Diamonds will underwrite any other expenses incurred by the clubs. “We would like to thank our partners the PSL and we promise a better final and all fans should come in their thousands.

There will be a lot of entertainment with the clubs’ juniors curtain-raising and Ndolwane Super Sounds being part of the entertainment.

“We confirm receipt of a request by the clubs to review the gate charges, but as a committee we felt that we would cause confusion. The sponsor will underwrite expenses incurred by the clubs,” Chiremba added.
