Ncube, a regular DJ at the upmarket Horizon Pub and Restuarant, will host a show called The Link — Yo connection to the City of Kings and Queens from 6pm to 9pm.

The disc jockey confirmed to Southern Eye Lifestyle yesterday in an interview that he would be broadcasting from Bulawayo for ZiFM Stereo.

“The aim of the show is to link the rest of Zimbabwe to Bulawayo as well as to give musicians from the region a platform for their music to be heard,” he said.

Ncube urged musicians to produce quality music that would fit within the radio station’s broadcasting standards in order for their music to get airplay.

“I have listened to some of the stuff our musicians produce and some of it is just below standard. The content is not ear or radio-friendly and in my opinion it would not be worth listening to, let alone playing.

“My aim is to play quality music that will make the nation not doubt our musicians, their production skills and potential,” Ncube said.

He added that he wanted to showcase that the City of Kings and Queens indeed has talent.

“Musician should get hold of me in any way, even on social networks so that we arrange how they can give me their music.”

The Bulawayo DJ has worked with United Kingdom’s R&B and hip-hop station Choice FM, South Africa’s Vaal 90,6FM, a radio station in Vanderbijil Parko.

On Friday evenings Ncube and DJ Pasee host the “Body and Soul Friday Nite” event at Horizon.
