Bosso who finished second in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) for the second season in a row after Dynamos, received their medals from Delta, the league sponsors.

Club chairman Peter Dube said some players could not manage to make it to the event due to the short notice, but presenting medals to those few players who managed to attend was the best option as the club also wanted to give mileage to the league sponsors.

“We just received the medals today (Saturday) and we have with us here the sponsor’s representative, so we have to have our medals ceremony presentation for being the runners-up in the just-ended PSL season. However, I would like to recognise the effort of the boys who managed to come regardless of the fact that it is something that came from a short notice,” Dube said. The team’s top goalscorer Njabulo

“Tshiki” Ncube, Simon “Yola” Munawa, second choice goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda and Bhekimpilo Ncube did not turn out for the occasion.

Head coach Kelvin Kaindu is in Zambia, where he is completing a Caf C Licence coaching course before returning in early January to start preparations for 2014.

Masimba Mambare, Milton Ncube and goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya are in camp with the national team ahead of the African Nations Championship (Chan) tournament to be hosted by South Africa next month missed the event while Peter “Rio” Moyo is on trials in South Africa.

Dube said he was impressed by the team in the just-ended season.

“I think they played very well throughout the season, I would like to recognise their effort. Today they are receiving these medals and it is a symbol of hard work. We hope to continue working hard as a club,” Dube said.

Delta channels executive manager Beang Moyo congratulated Highlanders for making the season interesting by giving challenge to traditional rivals DeMbare and Harare City.

“I do not have many words, but on behalf of the sponsors I would like to congratulate Highlanders Football Club for coming second and making the league interesting,” Moyo said.
