NINTEEN-year-old model Shanice Pullen has broken new ground in the music industry with a debut hip-hop single titled The Business.

Alaina, as Pullen is affectionately known, vowed that she would be the next big artiste with her single track since more will be coming up. “This is a new definition of me. It shows a stronger side of me and not the girly princess side of me.
“This will take me far and internationally. This is only a sample of what I can do best,” she said.
She revealed that The Business will be a club banger.
“The track talks about a group of girlfriends that go out clubbing and one of the girls is interested in a guy in the club. They share a mutual feeling, but for some reason the guy is taking too long to approach the girl.
“The girl shows the guy that she is what he needs and wants by making moves. It’s about girls stepping forward and bringing the business showing that they have got game,” she said.
The upcoming musician worked with local producer Polite Sithole, aka P2daoh.

“A friend of mine referred me to Polite and after I listened to his works I knew I would want to work with him,” she said.
The beautiful musician revealed she is working on a debut album.
“It will be more of defining me as an artist, my own sound — a fusion of hip-hop and R&B and a few of my experiences also have influenced some of the songs,” she added.
Alaina added that entering the male-dominated hip-hop sector was a way of breaking boundaries.
“I am breaking the boundaries and showing the world that women can also take over. America’s Lil Kim, Eve and Nicki Minaj have done that, so why can’t I?” she said.
“I started off as a model — from the age of four I had always wanted to be on stage. I took up a modelling course and entered a lot of pageants.
“Music has always been part of me as I grew up singing with my aunt and now I got myself a producer and did my first track, and now I can’t get enough of the studio,” she said.
The Bulawayo-born model-cum-musician was crowned Miss Teen Bulawayo and second princess Miss Teen Zimbabwe 2011. She is set to advance her studies overseas later this year.
