The local financial institution bankrolled the army side in the second half of their season last year in the Central Region Division One, but their marriage expired on December 31.

A subsidiary of BancABC, BancEASY managing director Desmond Ali confirmed that they will renew their partnership with Chapungu before the start of the new season.

“The deal we signed with them expired at the end of last year, but I can confirm that we are negotiating with them to have another sponsorship package for this season.

“This time around we will be looking at a number of things that include the economic situation. We will also put it into consideration that they are now playing premiership football.

“We did not cut ties with them, but our initial agreement expired and it has to be renewed.

“I can confirm that the new deal will be sealed before the beginning of the impending season,” Ali said.

BancABC are currently bankrolling PSL giants Highlanders and Dynamos and a Sup8r Cup competition.

The Gweru-based outfit has had an inconsistent dance with PSL football and will be gunning for a continued survival in the top-flight league with the aid of a sound financial backing.

Beitbridge-based Tripple B and Monomotapa and Motor Action of Harare failed to survive the drop last season because of an inconsistent supply of funds into the team, while Black Mambas, despite being sponsored by BancEASY, were relegated.
