He becomes the second coach in the PSL after Joisten Mathuthu was shoved off the hot seat at ZPC Kariba due to lack of the necessary qualifications. While Ntini said his contract had expired and was confident of another dance with the sugar boys, team chairman Lovemore Matikinyidze had earlier told this paper that the nomadic gaffer was still contracted to the club.

“We are happy with what the technical team and the players achieved last season. We are planning to retain our technical committee and the players we have,” Matikinyidze said.

Asked why they were taking time to give Ntini a contract, Matikinyidze said as far as he was concerned the coach still had a contract with the club.

“I think I have put myself across very well on this. I am not aware that his contract has expired,” Matikinyidze said.

But later in the afternoon, Ntini was singing from the jobless hymn book.

Ntini contacted this publication late yesterday over the development saying the monetary value offered by the Lowveld side was too low for a coach of a PSL quality.

He also added that he could not operate without medical aid, among a host of issues.

Ntini who was seething with anger said: “l just want to tell you that we have parted ways with Triangle. We failed to agree on a new contract, the remuneration was too low for a coach who is in the PSL. They are going to find someone who they are going to pay better,” he said.

“l can’t operate without, medical aid facility. In fact, how can l operate without such basic things. The club owes me $3 000 and I put my trust on some of the executive members, but they just said how can we pay for something we have not written down?” he added.

“Also one of the major reasons why we parted ways was that they refused when I gave them my list of players for the upcoming season before signing a new contract. They could have used me, because l could have recruited the players for them and then got dumped,” he said.

Late yesterday, Matikinyidze said the Press should get the entire story from Ntini.

“l do not have anything to comment, but if you got it from the horse’s mouth, then that’s true. Anyway we are going ahead with our preparations,” he said.

A source had earlier indicated the entire impasse begun after Ntini had a fierce confrontation with Matikinyidze.
