RELEGATED Tripple B striker Aleck Marime has reportedly signed a one-year contract with Hwange.

FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER An impeccable source told Southern Eye Sport that the striker, who had been targeted by Highlanders, had entered a deal with the coal miners and expected to join them this week in their second week of pre-season training camp just outside Hwange.

“He signed with Hwange last week and he will be joining them next week. Marime is on his way to Hwange,” the source said.

Hwange spokesperson Burzil Dube was not reachable to get confirmation yesterday as was head coach Nation Dube, reportedly in camp with the players.

Sources in Hwange confirmed that Marime was expected to join the rest of the team this week.

The former Dynamos and FC Platinum striker, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, had been Bosso’s prime target since last year, but had eluded the Bulawayo football giants who have so far signed Valentine Ndaba from Shabanie Mine, Khumbulani Banda from How Mine and goalkeeper Njabulo Nyoni from Chicken Inn. Welcome Ndiweni and Joel “Josta” Ngodzo signed on Saturday morning from FC Platinum.

The sources in Hwange said Rodwell Chinyengetere who returns from injury and Francisco Zekumbawira, offloaded by Dynamos mid last season are also expected to start training with Chipangano this week.

“Marime, Chinyengetere and Francisco are yet to join the team, but are expected to this week,” a source in Hwange said.

Save for Nkosana Siwela, Hwange have retained most of their players from last year with running contracts including the much sought after Warriors defender Eric Chipeta in South Africa with the national team for the African Nations Championships.
