Sithole is expected to be training with the South African side tomorrow as the team prepares for the Absa Premier Soccer League match against Bidvest Wits at Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening.

The 24-year-old forward says his move to the South African league is a stepping stone as his aim is to take his footballing career to greater heights. Sithole was with the Warriors at the just-ended African Nations Championships (Chan) in South Africa where Ajax spotted him.

He also said he enjoyed the tournament that gave him a platform to showcase his abilities in South Africa.

“The tournament went well for all of us as we went there carrying an underdog tag. As players we made it a point that we go to South Africa to shine as most of us wanted to market ourselves and it paid as we managed to reach the semi-final stage. We fought as a team and we made history.

“My move to Ajax is a stepping stone because I am still expecting more in my career. In the next few years, I see myself playing in Europe.

“I believe in hard work so I will try my best in South Africa,” he said.

Sithole was impressive throughout the campaign scoring Zimbabwe’s first goal against Mali. He has also been in How Mine head coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube’s plans for both the Orange Caf Confederation Cup and the 2014 Premier Soccer League campagin.

The gold miners will host Chuoni FC of Zanzibar at Barbourfields Stadium in the first leg of the preliminary round of the Orange Caf Confederation Cup on Saturday. Sithole said he was confident his former team would spring surprises in the continental tournament.

“My absence at How Mine does not mean anything, the team won games during my absence last season,” he said.

“There are players who have the fighting spirit in that team, they have a good coach, he signed good players so I do not see them facing any challenges in the early stages of the tournament.

“I wish them all the best, How Mine is like home to me, I will miss the club.”
