Agnes Ncube pleaded not guilty to malicious damage to property when she appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Sharon Rosemani and was remanded out of custody to February 24.

Denying the allegations, Ncube said she had no reason to burn her ex-husband’s house but all she wanted was for him to support his children who are currently in her custody.

Prosecutor Takunda Ndovorwi told the court that on January 20 this year, Ncube went to her ex-husband Vrian Mathe’s homestead in Mapiningoma village under Chief Shana in Jambezi at around 9am and intentionally set his bedroom hut alight destroying property worth about $440.

A report was made to the Jambezi police and Ncube was arrested.
