In a statement yesterday, ZRU said the Dendairy Inter-schools 7s will be held from March 12 to April 9 and will see four tournaments held simultaneously, at 1st team level.

“Dendairy, a company whose products are familiar with being nutritious and ‘filled with goodness’, have signed an agreement with Zimbabwe Rugby to be the title sponsor of the newly created inter-schools 7s programme,” the statement read.

“The Dendairy Inter-schools 7s programme provides a fantastic first with both Dendairy and the Inter-schools rugby programme, where young energetic athletes can be exposed to the benefits of high quality nutritious products.”

“The Zimbabwe Rugby Union has set about having 32 schools from across the country, participating in each event. Four venues have been identified that aim to offer accessibility to schools in different geographical locations across the country.”

The Dendairy Inter-schools 7s will provide ZRU with an opportunity to select a Zimbabwe Under-18 team that will compete at the second edition of the African Youth Games to be held in Gaborone, Botswana from May 22-31.

Rugby Sevens will make its debut at the 206 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
