A GWERU polygamist was arrested for growing mbanje after one of his wives reported him to the police for growing the illicit plant in the back garden of their house. OWN CORRESPONDENT

Morris Chinyange yesterday appeared before Gweru magistrate Sithembiso Ncube for initial remand on charges of possessing dangerous drugs. Chinyange was remanded out of custody to March 6 on $50 bail.

It is the State’s case that on Friday last week, Chinyange’s wife, whose name was not given in court, went to the Gweru Central Police Station and told the cops that her husband was growing mbanje in the back garden of their house.

The cops went to Chinyange’s residence where they found a 1,5m mbanje plant at the back of the garden and arrested him.
