BLANTYRE — South Africa Metro award winner, Berita Khumalo, and Malawi’s rising Afro-Soul sensation, Lawi, will today treat music fans at Blantyre to an unplugged session.

This one of a kind acoustic music is set to be hosted at Mibawa Café, the hub of live music in Blantyre. According to Tamanda Mbendera, who is part of the organising team, this will be an exclusive collaboration between the two artistes and is expected to be recorded live. Mbendera described the event as a “vibrant night of African music”.

The Bulawayo-born South African songstress, having an African tour, in Malawi she is expected to have an inaugural show at Sunday Crossroads Hotel together with Lawi at the Malawi capital, Lilongwe.

Earlier last week, it was reported by a South African paper, The Dispatch, that while in Malawi, the 22-year-old Berita — currently working on her next album — would record a song that she wants to have Malawian taste. It has been learnt that the songstress is in the studios working on some collaborations with Lawi.

Berita has worked with music legends such as Hugh Masekela and Oliver Mtukudzi on one song in her incoming album. She has done some collaboration with Senegal’s Carlou D.
