HIGHLANDERS head coach Kelvin Kaindu has a chance to work on the mistakes that saw Bosso lose 0-2 to Dynamos in the Bob 90 Super Cup, when he travels to Zvishavane to face FC Platinum in a friendly match at Mandava Stadium on Sunday. FORTUNE MBELE SPORTS REPORTER It is the two sides’ last friendly match before the start of the 2014 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, which is expected to start next weekend.

Bosso’s first match will be against PSL returnees Chapungu United, who beat them 2-1 in the CG Msipa Charity Soccer tournament semi-final a few weeks ago.

The final was eventually won by FC Platinum.

Bosso started off well in the Bob 90 Cup final against Dynamos, but a defensive mistake by Felix Chindungwe in the 32nd minute saw former Bosso player Masimba Mambare blast the ball past goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya before Ronald Chitiyo finished off the Bulawayo giants with a gem of a goal in the second half.

After the defeat Kaindu said the match had been evenly balanced, but Highlanders fell due to mistakes and a blunt attack.

Bosso’s squad is composed of too many midfielders with no outright or experienced striker, but Kaindu is adamant the material available will do the trick for Highlanders and has to come up with the right combinations.

Among the host of midfielders at Bosso are Kuda Mahachi, Valentine Ndaba, Charles Sibanda, Welcome Ndiweni, Peter “Rio” Moyo, Simon Munawa, Hillary Madzivanyika and Mthulisi Maphosa. There are only a handful of youthful forwards.

Bosso beat FC Platinum 1-0 in another friendly match played at Barbourfields Stadium, but the platinum miners played better football on that day.

Platinum, definite title contenders this season, have played nine friendly matches and only lost twice to date. Sunday’s will be their 10th game before they take on PSL newcomers Chiredzi FC away from home in their first league match.

Their top acquisitions are former Bosso striker Njabulo “Tshiki” Ncube and Shabanie Mine’s Tarisai Rukanda, who will prove to be a pain for many a defender in the league this year.

Head coach Lloyd Mutasa yesterday said: “The boys are working hard and we are just waiting for the start of the season. We were supposed to play Dynamos, but they could not make it. We will now be playing Highlanders on Sunday.”

Bosso secretary Andrew Tapela confirmed the match.
