Dumisani Dube (28) of Nkayi and Praymore Mlambo of Choiro village in the Makuyana area of Chipinge, who both currently reside in the Killarney area of Filabusi, pleaded guilty to contravening Section 60 (3) (b) of the Electricity Act Chapter 13:19 (cutting the electric current apparatus) when they appeared before Filabusi magistrate Mzingaye Moyo.

The magistrate remanded them to April 9 when they would appear in the Matabeleland South Regional Court in Gwanda for sentencing.

Prosecutor Smart Tafireyi told the court that earlier this month, the two cut electricity cables and tried to sell them.

Police were tipped off on March 24 that Dube was in possession of Zesa copper cables.

They raided his premises and recovered six metres of the cable. Dube implicated Mlambo, who was also found in possession of some copper cables.
