Models showcased various designs which included, quirky, mono-tonal, elmo, gothic, rock chic, grunge, plain, vintage, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, block, feminine, masculine, bohemian, military, sporty, glamorous, nautical, colour blocking and safari.

Bulawayo-Board-of-Designers-fusion-runway-2014 At the fashion show characterised by a huge turnout, fashion lovers were treated to musical performances from various artistes including Exmile’s who fused his famous song Bangaxabani with the song Drunk in Love from Beyoncé Knowles’ self-titled album Beyoncé.

Southern Eye Lifestyle managed to interview three designers out of the 17 designers showcasing.

Chantal Fraser (25) showcased Afro Chic designs. She launched her label Chante` in 2010. Fraser grew up in an artistic family. Her parents formed a band and her brother Otis Fraiser is a disc jokey at Star FM. Fusion-Runway-2014-2

“I am inspired by Africa and the world around me. I did not go to school for this, but I believe it comes naturally,” Fraser said.

Another designer Mbonisi Hanyane said he was inspired by people, art and nature around him. Hanyane showcased professional wear which comprised suits for the work place. He started his career in 1996.

“There is a huge challenge in the clothing industry, people are importing cheap clothing from China. We need support from local people for us to grow as designers. We should be proud of local products,” he said.

Grant Moyo showcased his Button work and said he derived inspiration from his mother and sister Sheenah Moyo who taught him to design using buttons.

Moyo hosted the “Love Meets Fashion” show held at Kingdom Hotel in Victoria Falls.
