PPC Zimbabwe director for business development Gavin, Stephens, yesterday hailed the event, a clear sign he was thrilled by the proceedings. He applauded athletes for coming in numbers to stage a healthy competition.

“As sponsors, we were very pleased, the numbers were similar to the previous year. We saw a world-class event, it was well organised. We would like to thank the organisers of the competition for the job well done. Finishing the races at Bulawayo Athletics Club was also a good idea, the facilities were good, and we got good support there. It was a good event,” Stephens said.

The event that saw close to 200 athletes from all parts of the country taking part was organised by the Bulawayo Athletics Board.

Top athletes, Wirimayi Zhuwawo, Nkosiyazi Sibanda, Elijah Mabhunu, Jonathan Chinyoka, George Majaji, Phatisa Ngwabi, Kelvin Pangiso, Isaac Mpofu and Simbarashe Chikadaka avoided the main race and opted for the 21km race as most of them are eyeing the Coca-cola four-minute mile slated for ZITF main arena next week.
