Highlanders scored through Charles Sibanda in the eighth minute and Notré Dame responded through Patrick Hodan in the 31st minute.

Bosso scored the second in the 42nd minute through Ozias Zibande, but substitute Leon Brown’s overhead kick in the 79th minute leveled the scoreline. Clark said they had played a good game against Highlanders.

“It is so good to be back. A draw was a good result for us. We fought hard and we got a tie. This is a good team and I love the way they play. I cannot compare them to the team I coached because it was a different time, but it was great to see my former players Willard (Khumalo) and Peter (Nkomo) still doing something for the team,” he said.

Clark paid tribute to former Highlanders juniors coach Ali “Baba” Dube whom he said should be credited for the success of Highlanders.

“People say I built the team, but it was Ali who did that. I assisted him in the Under-16 and I hope people will remember the good work that he did,” the Notré Dame coach said.

Clark is in the country with his Notré Dame team for three weeks and they have already played friendly matches against FC Platinum, Hwange Juniors and Plumtree Chiefs.

Bosso coach Kelvin Kaindu said it was a good practice match. “We gave them too much respect and we were reserved. We might have scored two goals but we conceded because we were reserved. We are happy with the young players’ performance and with the right guidance we could see stars,” he said.

Kaindu said this in reference to King Nadolo who was introduced five minutes before fulltime and gave a good account of himself.

Notre Dame were first on the attack with a well-executed turn and shot by Vince Cicciarelli in the fifth minute which was tipped over the bar for a corner by Ariel Sibanda, in goals for Highlanders.

Three minutes later Sibanda latched onto a cross from Simon Munawa to volley in the first for the home side.

In the 31st minute Hodan pulled one back with a shot from just outside the box.

Knox Mutizwa who had been involved in the first goal was to assist in the second when he sent through Zibande whose grounder beat goalkeeper Patrick Wall. With the match seemingly going Highlanders way unmarked substitute Brown’s acrobatic kick levelled the scores.
