Speaking in an interview with Southern Eye Lifestyle, Mlamuli Moyo, the event organiser said preparations for the day were progressing well.

“This day signifies every child’s right to be educated, the right to be respected and right to be heard,” he said.

Six high schools including junior parliamentarians have been invited to take part in the commemorations.

“We had this commemoration last year, but the people said it’s a South African event,” he said.

Moyo said they will celebrate the day through poetry and some young poets will get a chance to showcase their talents, dance, drama and related activities. The event will kick off at 12pm till 6pm.
