Artwell Sibanda recently poked fun at Sipepa Nkomo accusing him of adultery and being a fake Christian who snatched someone’s wife, Roselyn Nkomo.

Roselyn is Sipepa Nkomo’s wife and is also the Tsholotsho North MP.

Sibanda allegedly said Sipepa Nkomo was not a saint as he committed adultery and snatched Roselyn in 2009 when she was married to Lovemore Xaba.

According to reports, Sipepa Nkomo, who was then the chief executive officer of Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe, divorced his wife Magqwetha to marry Roselyn, who was separating from Xaba.

Sibanda allegedly uttered the statements in a debate with colleagues over the MDC-T power struggles.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Mandlenkosi Moyo yesterday confirmed that Sipepa Nkomo had lodged a police report against Sibanda for insulting him.

“The docket has been taken to court,” Moyo said in a telephone interview.

Sipepa Nkomo refused to comment saying he would let the law take its course.

“I do not want to comment about this issue. I have reported the case to the police and it will soon be in court,” he said.

Sibanda yesterday said he was summoned to Bulawayo Central Police Station on Saturday over the insult charges filed against him.

“I was summoned to the police on Saturday, but when I arrived, I was told that the police officer who had called me had left. Since then, I have not been summoned (again) to the police,” Sibanda said.

He said he never insulted Sipepa-Nkomo as “what I said is in the public domain”.

“It was widely reported by the media and it is therefore public information,” Sibanda said.
