Ncube confirmed that his house worth about $250 000, went up in smoke on Sunday night when he was not at home.

“It is true that my house went up in smoke. Nobody was hurt in the inferno, but all the property was destroyed and I am estimating a total loss, including the house, at over $300 000,” Ncube said.

The MP, a very close ally of Justice minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, appeared unfazed by the blaze saying he would get over it soon.

“Police and firemen are combing through the remains of the property as we speak so they could ascertain what caused the fire. These things happen in life and we work even harder to recover from such losses,” Ncube said.

Ncube is among five people aligned to Mnangagwa suing Midlands Provincial Affairs minister Jaison Machaya for $10 million each over a report implicating them in rigging Zanu PF provincial elections last year.

The Kwekwe City Council fire department reportedly failed to put out the inferno owing to inferior firefighting equipment as its only available fire tender does not carry water.

The fire comes hardly a month after a farm house belonging to the Justice minister’s son Emmerson Mnangagwa (Jr) worth over $100 000 went up in smoke in another unexplained fire.

Council had to be bailed out by Zimbabwe Mining and Alloy Smelting Company fire fighters who dispatched its fire tender to fight the blaze.

It is suspected that both fires could have been triggered by an electrical fault although investigations are still continuing.
