Addressing MDC-Renewal structures yesterday at Stanley Square in Bulawayo, Biti said they were God-chosen to bring smiles to four generations of Zimbabweans that have lived in hopelessness since 1980.

“God has given us the burden to free Zimbabweans and make them enjoy life,” he said.

“God has been on our side and this is all shown by the fact that it’s only been two months, but we have made serious inroads. The future is bright,” Biti told scores of party supporters.

“Zimbabwe and Zanu PF in particular, has failed four generations since independence.

“These generations have not known any peace or prosperity. If you go to South Africa, most of the thieves there are Zimbabweans who have been failed by this misrule.

“This is where us as the renewal team we come in. For (MDC-T leader Morgan) Tsvangirai, was supposed to be the solution, but he has become a national embarrassment because he failed to hand over the baton,” Biti added.

Biti’s right hand man Elton Mangoma told supporters that Tsvangirai was history and Zimbabwe would keep sliding into the abyss with President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF in power.

“Tsvangirai and Mugabe are history. We are saying to ourselves that what was left undone by the nationalists like (the late Vice-President) Joshua Nkomo and by liberators, some of whom are not recognised, we must be able to finish it so that this country enjoys peace and prosperity,” he said.

“It is obvious that Zanu PF will not make this country move forward because they are clueless.

“The renewal team has the solutions and will form the next government.”

Mangoma had told the Bulawayo Press Club on Saturday that Tsvangirai was a monumental failure and would never rule Zimbabwe.

“Tsvangirai is a failure and he will never ever become the president of Zimbabwe,” he said.

“He will not rule this country and I know very well that he is a failure because I was working very closely with him and I know his capabilities.

“He will not make it to State House because of his failures, top among them is his incapability to make the right decisions and choices at the right time.”

The former Energy minister said they had stuck to Tsvangirai for years thinking that “he would change”.

“Welshman (Ncube) saw it earlier and decided to move on, but we remained with Tsvangirai though we knew he was a failure because a lot of people were behind him. We thought things would change and he would make the right decisions that would see the party ruling this country,” Mangoma said in response to a question why they had remained with Tsvangirai if they knew he was a failure.

The renewal team met its structures yesterday. Also in attendance were some of the legislators who broke ranks with the main MDC-T.

These included Evelyn Masaiti, Samuel Sipepa Nkomo, Willias Madzimure, Reggie Moyo, Bekithemba Nyathi and Watchy Sibanda, among others.
