BUFFALOES collected maximum points against the struggling Chiredzi FC in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

Although the match was unconvincing, the army side managed to give a befitting send-off to their late patron, Brigadier Eliah Bandama who died last Friday.
The match started on a poor note with both team seeming to be struggling with form, but it was Buffaloes who banged the nets through a well struck penalty in the 69th minute from their captain Jacob Muzokomba.
Buffaloes have now gone for three matches without tasting defeat following a string of poor results that saw them losing five matches in a row before finding the winning formula recently.
Buffaloes assistant coach Timothy Masachi, who was wary of Chiredzi FC, said his charges could have scored more had it not been for some missed chances while his counterpart from Chiredzi, Dzingai Murinye, blamed poor officiating which saw his side conceding a penalty in the second half.
It was Chiredzi FC who could have claimed the lead in the 17th minute with a well-positioned and an unmarked Norman Maroto heading straight into the host goalminder Blessing Mwandimutsira’s hands.
Following that scare, the home side tried to settle and following nice exchanges of passes in the middle. Roy Mwenga’s well taken shot in the 36th minute missed the target by a few inches as it went just over the bar.

Chiredzi’s Wellington Kamudyariwa was also close to the target in the 62nd minute with a powerful long-range shot which was tipped over the bar for a corner-kick by Mwandimutsira.
However, as Buffaloes continued to pile pressure, the visitors’ defender Gift Kwaramba handled a goal-bound shot prompting the man in the middle, Brighton Chimene, to point to the spot.
Muzokomba did well to beat the keeper to claim a third consecutive win for his side.
