BULAWAYO dance group – Hurricanz Dance Crew – yesterday left Zimbabwe for Botswana to represent the country in a dance competition dubbed “Street Battle Africa Dance”.

The Barbourfields outfit is billed to raise the Zimbabwean flag in Francistown today where it is expected to battle it out with top the 16 groups in Africa in the competition.
Gift Sendamai (23), aka Dash, and Terry Nyathi (20), aka Chizboi, will represent the four-member crew. Two other members failed to make the trip due to other engagements.
In an interview with the Southern Eye Lifestyle, Sendamai said they were overjoyed when organisers of the Street Battle Africa Dance informed them they were the official representatives of Zimbabwe after impressing them.
The Hurricanz were spotted performing at the Zimbabwe Carnival held in Harare where they had gone with singer Sandra Ndebele and Intombi Zomqangala
“We are on our way to Botswana to show them what we Zimbos are capable of. This was a big surprise for the group and our fans. Our dream became true and we hope to bring the trophy home, koBulawayo,” he said.

The group has performed at Miss Bulawayo, Miss Heritage Zimbabwe and Club Forty-40 when Mzoe7 launched his single Wedding Day.
Nyathi, who travelled with Sendamai and is founder of the group, said: “We will do hip-hop, break dances and we have latest dance moves which will leave people craving for more.
“We tried to blend in new school hip-hop with a bit of krump hip-hop and a little robotics style. ”
Harricanz, formed in 2010, would add pantsula jive. The group is expected back in the country tonight.
